Recent Photos from Terrazas - May/June 2010

The photos below are a selection of around 100 sent to me in recent weeks by Gerry, Howard, Mark  and Nic. I had hoped to post them all but can't quite work out why I am having problems uploading them in bulk.
I'm afraid then that this is only a flavour of the photos but should you wish to see them in fully all Terrazas photos are now available by searching "davebangors Picasa albums" on GOOGLE.

If you look at the albums on Picasa you will see the range of people who have contributed photos to all of whom I am indebted.

Recent developments included here are:
  • the golf course
  • the town centre
  • the old hacienda
  • the property construction
The was some question about the readiness or otherwise of the course  covered in a recent post. The consensus now is that the course has the potential to be ready by Sept/October although, cynic that I am I will be taking as close a look as I can when I go over next weekend for a 2 weeks stay at La Torre.
The rough spots clearly evident here are reportedly improving rapidly and are not typical of the general condition . Nic reported that the fairways are growing very well with warmer weather and feels maybe Sept/Oct but perhaps the end of the year will see the course in good shape.

Nic also shot some nicely positioned photos and had a day when there were some nice fluffy clouds to produce good photos.

Mark also got some interesting shots such as the above view back towards a distant phase 1 and in the middle ground the current penthouses under construction  and the large lake to the right of shot.

The Town Centre is still a bit of a mystery as nobody has yet gained access to the interior or if so I haven't seen the photos. It would be good to see the layout, if  indeed it can be seen at this stage.

From the outside the U shape with the interior looking towards the lake seems OK but if Las Islas are built it will be a limited view unless it points directly down the water between the islands, which I assume it will. Not sure if the plan is to make a feature of that area.

In the original plan there was to be an administrative level on part of the Town Centre but given Polaris are no longer "owners" of the site and given that they have actually closed parts of the HQ on the C3319 I think we can assume that won't happen. There are however stairways on the building so what they are for is anyone's guess but they appear simply to give roof access for maintenance, seen to the left in the photo below:

The Old Manor House / Hacienda or whatever is of course scheduled to be a top class drinking den.  It has certainly had work done but quite what is in mind is unclear, much like the Town Centre.
From the aerial photo it appears that the house will be the place closest to the centre part of the lake. On the original plan there was to be an "horizon" swimming pool to the left & front part of it. That I suspect may never materialise but who knows.

A floor has been installed since the last internal pics of the house and clearly work has been done  in supporting arches etc.

It appears there could well be a central courtyard and from the angled shape on the new build to the right a sloping roof  which may restore some of the character  of the original house.

The closer they get to that the better given the pretty bland appearance of the white generic Town Centre.

Finally the building of the current phase of Penthouses. There are currently ten new blocks under construction at various stages of development.

Below is the area running from the "completed" phase 2-12 blocks towards the Town Centre.

Above the block closest to the Town Centre and to the extreme right the edge of one of the blocks up the side of the resort towards Phase1.
From the direction of phase1 and below the blocks completing the perimeter between Phase1 & Phase2-12

The above aerial shot shows the arc of 10 blocks. Again the original plan had blocks running in towards the Town Centre on the lake side of the road. It is uncertain whether that is still a possibility but there appears to be space for that to be done.

For potential Las Islas dwellers all I can show at present is that both "islands" have been cleared, levelled and to some extent marked out. I have heard that Polaris have offered some people form the smaller island, "matching" properties on the larger island. It would appear that at least the larger of the two is to be built but it remains a matter shrouded in typical Polaris World mystery.

The smaller island and below the larger.

I shall be staying at La Torre for a couple of weeks from next Saturday and will try to pay a visit or two to Terrazas so should hopefully update matters then.
Thanks again to all contributors of photographs.
